How to Make Old Psion 5 Applications Colour

There are many Psion application originally written for the black & white Series 5/5MX machines that will run quite happily on a Series7/netbook. However, the remain in black & white. This need not alway be the case, it is possible to add colour support to some programs without having to get into the code.

Martin Guthrie has done a fine job of putting together icons for some of the most popular apps, you can find these, and others from the links below:

Application Link Notes
ebc The Psion File Our very own application to add colour support to Jason Kneen/PocketIQ's ExtraBars.
SimCity FoxPop The classic game transferred to Psion and now with full colour support - looks excellent on the large 7/netbook screen.
ColorMagic Epocware

FoxPop review

An application that is very similar in function to the Windows Display Properties "Apperance" tab. ColorMagic allows you to change the colours of elements such as the wallpaper and the menus.

One minor problem with this program is it's inability to be able to change the colour of the system font, which remains black, meaning that if you choose a dark background colour you cannot see the text...

Presentation Maker FoxPop Still an excellent application after all these years offering similar functionality to Microsoft's Powerpoint. Unfortunately after the initial release there were no updates, but it is still possible to make the most of it on a Series 7/nertbook as this article shows you how.

We will be adding more so keep checking back. If you have any others that you would like to be included then please send me an email.
