An Introduction to Psion Programming

One of the great things about the Psion range of handhelds is the ease with which they can be programmed. Because of this a vast range of software exists for the various machines.

If you are interested in having a go at programming your Psion then there are a number of places on the Internet where you can get help and information.

Steve Litchfield's 3lib site has a series of articles that cover topics both for the complete beginner right up to complex examples for the more advanced programmer.

A number of Steve's later tutorials make use of RMREvent which is a 'framework' for an event-driven OPL program. This was written by Al Richey based on the core of his S5Bank program. This gives a quick start of any Psion5 developments and can be downloaded for free from RMR Software

If you are at all serious about programming your Psion then the book Programming Psion Computers is a must. This is the bible of the Psion programming world and covers the Series 3x, Series 5, Siena an Workabout machines in great depth. The book is published by EMCC and can be bought on-line via Amazon, click here for a review and details of how to purchase.
